… So my “Google Alerts” informed me the other day that “Word Nerd” has been nominated for the Rhode Island Teen Book Award. What tickles me about this is twofold: One, it means at least a handful of Americans have read my book (sales! sales! sales!), and two, I’m on a list with Carl Hiaasen, author of such amazing young adult novels as “Hoot” and “Flush.” That feels like a brush with greatness.
