For the detail-oriented among you, I’m doing this little post. In Word Nerd, Ambrose and Cosmo serenade Amanda with a “Luther Wright and the Wrongs” song – it’s Ambrose’s idea, to help Cosmo win Amanda back.
Well, I caught up with Luther Wright in the flesh last week! Luther is actually one of my oldest, dearest friends. We met when we were young teenagers; my grandparents’ farm was on the same road as his parents’ cottage, Bayshore Road, between Picton and Kingston, Ont. I have so many fond memories of Luther. We were going to become a famous Hollywood duo; we even had the name of the movie we were going to write, direct and star in: “Fred and Gladys.” I have no idea what was supposed to actually happen in “Fred and Gladys,” but we enjoyed our little fantasy!
Luther is an awesome fella and a great musician/singer. This is my little love letter to him. He knows how to enjoy life and live it to its fullest. Rock on Luther!

Susin, this is great! I wandered to your site through a Google search for something else entirely… George Cloony is a wonderful book! But this post got me – where did your grandparents live on Bayshore Road? My grandparents lived on Hwy 8 just east of Adolphustown, past the ferry and a line up from Bayshore. What a beautiful part of the country!

Marilyn, I am so awful – I just saw your response. I don’t seem to get notified and I’m clearly bad about checking! My grandparents lived in a big white wood house along Bayshore Rd. My mom had a schoolhouse for many years across the street from Adolphustown United Church, near Hay Bay. We were there over Easter for a family reunion – you’re right, it is gorgeous.
