Sometimes people ask me about the two naughty cats I mention in my bio. People think I’m possibly exaggerating. I’ll let you judge for yourselves.
We adopted Emily Bronte and Erwin Schrodinger in September 2012. Emily is the tortoise shell, by the way. Erwin is Mr. Orange. Since we have adopted them, they have:
Toppled and broken a beautiful art deco lamp that my mom gave Husband and I on our wedding day.
Toppled a painting I’d just bought, gouging a corner of the frame and smashing a glass-topped table in the process.
Broke my treasured zoetrope.
Scratched our furniture so completely that our house really does look like it belongs to Crazy Cat People.
And then there’s the two P’s (poop and pee).
They decided our beautiful area rug was a perfect pooping place. So much so that we finally gave up and got rid of the rug. Notice we got rid of the rug, not the cats.
And the pee. Emily likes to pee on the futon in the basement. And on shoes. Especially guests’ shoes.
And yet … I look into those little faces …
And it’s pretty hard to stay mad. It’s a lot like having kids in that way; they can infuriate you once in a while, but you still love them like crazy!
And here they are, enjoying a few of my books!
