I didn’t intentionally lie. But I want to do proper justice to my 24-hour trip to Edmonton and the great students and teachers at Oliver School – and the great peeps at CBC Radio Edmonton! And in order to do that … I need photos. I took a few … but I know a couple of other people got much better pics than I did, particularly of the kid audience. So – to my SIX DEVOTED FOLLOWERS (one of whom is my own husband – and I had to drag him, kicking and screaming, into my Word Nerd Cult – tonight he’s going to drink the Kool-aid, he just doesn’t know it yet) – a proper Edmonton update is still a few days away.
But I do have an exciting photo to whet your appetite:
Okay, but here’s something genuinely interesting – for me, at least. The photo below shows a page from my NEW MANUSCRIPT. It’s at copy-edit stage. This is the easy part for me. I now just have to read through it and agree with all of my wonderful editor’s notes. At this stage it’s largely punctuation, getting rid of word repetition, and correcting inconsistencies (for example, I gave one character green eyes on one page, and later on she had brown eyes. Thank goodness for an excellent editor! Mine is Sue Tate, she is extraordinary, and she saves me from all kinds of embarrassment.
Anyway, this is a typical page with mark-ups. I suspect it will be a struggle to read the text, but if you can, it’ll be a sneak preview at the same time.
PS – I just realized that if you click on the photo, it blows up real good … meaning you can read every word! Yup, this is a new discovery for Luddite Nielsen.
