I just came back from a most AWESOME week in New York City with my 14-year-old. Aside from shopping, eating and theatre/sports/comedy outings nightly, I also attended a “reception in my honor” at the School Library Journal‘s offices in downtown Manhattan. They are the “world’s largest reviewer of books, multimedia and technology for children and teens.”
It was a lot of fun. I mingled with about 20-25 librarians from around New York and the boroughs, and gave a short talk and reading. Rocco Staino made me feel so welcome (get this – I just found out he also writes for the Huffington Post!) and guess what, the rumor is true: Librarians really do rock. Plus the wine and cheese were excellent.
Above is a photo of me with my two New York friends, producer extraordinaire Tracey Boulton and her MTV exec husband, Brent Haynes, who kindly came to the event.
On Friday night the son and I went to a Knicks game. Kim Kardashian was there. This is her ponytail.
Personally I was more excited to see Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I don’t have a photo of him!
More on New York later … and the best store ever …
