Wow, what an incredible day. First, the weather’s been fantastic. Second, Andersen Press publicist Sarah Kimmelman is amazing. I met her at 10:15 this morning and off we went to Waterstone’s flagship shop on Piccadilly, where I had tea with some of their buyers as well as PRH’s rep, the stellar Tineke.
What a nice bunch! And the store is spectacular – beautiful curated books on five floors. After a lovely lunch Sarah took me to Goldsboro Books. Now – this was an experience. Goldsboro is a specialty shop, a tiny store in an ancient building, and they only sell first edition hardcovers. And, um – they bought ONE HUNDRED of the UK edition of Molecules. I met the adorable Harry and signed all hundred copies. I can’t believe my book is going to be sold through their book club to international buyers (I mean – obviously only the ones who want it). I’ve never experienced anything like this. To say I was tickled would be an understatement.
Afterward I went back to my hotel and had a wee rest. Then I walked to Kensington Gardens. On the way I saw that famous people have lived around here: The high brow …
I got lost on the winding streets and briefly went to Hyde Park and saw Kensington Palace. Then, on my way back to the tube, I saw this store front sign:
How am I not meant to giggle at this??
‘Kay you know what? It’s late. After midgnight. I’m off to Paris tomorrow. I will blog about the incredible pre-launch party Andersen Press threw for my book, tomorrow. Suffice it to say it was amazing. The team at Andersen Press is incredible. Not sure I’ll be able to sleep!
